Dec 21, 2006 News Release
Texas Governor Rick Perry has announced the award of $100,000 to BeyondMissing, Inc., to provide a web-based system to support law enforcement agencies in the development of Amber Alert flyers on suspected child abductions. This grant is awarded under the State Criminal Justice Planning Fund and is distributed by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division (CJD).
"With these funds, law enforcement officials will be better able to protect children from violent predators," Perry said.
The Texas Amber Alert Network provides 24-hour support to local law enforcement agencies that report and investigate child abduction cases, and issues both regional and statewide public alerts for emergency child abduction cases.
Each year, the Governor's Criminal Justice Division awards more than $113 million in grants for a variety of juvenile justice, criminal justice and victim services programs.

SBC $1 Million Amber Alert Grants |

San Antonio, TX: On Monday, August 2, 2004 Child safety advocate Marc Klaas joined SBC Chairman Ed Whitacre and US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) at the San Antonio based Heidi Search Center to announce $1 million worth of SBC Axcelerator Technology Grants to enhance Amber Alert projects in 13 select States. Mr. Klaas, the president of the non-profit BeyondMissing, Inc. applauds SBC for continuing to display corporate leadership in this important arena. “Many claim to support efforts to protect children, but few are willing to back up rhetoric with resource,” said Klaas. The partnership between SBC and BeyondMissing that began in 2002 resulted in the first pager/cell phone text messaging system to assist in the recovery of kidnapped children. Klaas said, “By working together toward a common goal, SBC and BeyondMissing utilized existing corporate regional notification networks to provide pager and cell phone text messaging to assist in the recovery of kidnapped children”. BeyondMissing was the first to offer an Amber Alert application for law enforcement agencies, which can be distributed to other law enforcement agencies and community organizations via fax, email and SMS text messaging (recipients include law enforcement, media assignment desks, highway motels, convenience stores, fast food outlets, bus stations, utility providers, SBC field representatives and concerned citizens.) Despite recent reports to the contrary BeyondMissing was the first organization to provide email and text messaging capabilities to all text compatible cell phone subscribers. “This is why we are proud to assist in SBC’s generous philanthropy,” said Klaas. “Hopefully, other companies will follow their lead so that America’s children are even better protected in the future.” Left to right: SBC Communications Vice President Forrest Miller, SBC Communications Chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre, U.S. Sen. BEYONDMISSING AMBER ALERT CROSSES STATE BORDERS TO RECOVER KIDNAPPED CHILDAmber Alert Technology Application Assists Michigan Law Enforcement SAUSALITO, Calif. - At 8:00 am EST this morning a Michigan Amber Alert was issued for a missing toddler, whom police thought might be headed to Sodus Point, NY. 22-month-old Bella Ann Rudduck was last seen in the community of Albion, located in Calhoun County, Michigan. Based on information provided by an eyewitness, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department believed that her father Harold Rudduck, Jr. and her grandfather kidnapped Bella. BeyondMissing, Inc. provided the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office with a flyer of Bella, developed using a universal platform that easily and quickly creates, distributes and posts high resolution graphic and text flyers of missing children. Upon receiving authorization from Lt. Bill Burgess of the Calhoun County Sheriff Dept., the agency with case jurisdiction, the BeyondMissing flyer was distributed to targeted recipients. Utilizing broadcast fax, email, and SMS (cell phone) text-messaging thousands of copies of Bella's photo flyer, was distributed to law enforcement agencies, media outlets, service stations, fast food outlets, convenience stores, and bus stations within a 200-mile radius of the point from which she was kidnapped. An additional distribution for the Michigan Amber Alert flyer targeted recipients in a 75-mile radius from Sodus Point, New York. Shortly after 6:00 PM EST the Wayne County Sheriff's Department in Sodus Point, New York arrested Harold Rudduck Jr. and his father. In thanking BeyondMissing, Inc. for their assistance, Lt. Burgess conceded that, "The entire operation was an outstanding demonstration of law enforcement, media sources, and community pulling together on a National level. It allowed us to make the appropriate arrest and take the child into protective custody."

 |
Lindsey Diane Ryan has been found on March 24, 2003!
"A 14-year-old Michigan girl missing since March 1 was recovered safely Monday and her convicted murderer companion was arrested without incident, the California Highway Patrol said.
A CHP trooper stopped a suspicious looking vehicle near Susanville, Calif., northwest of Reno, Nev., said CHP spokesman Tom Marshall."
...
"The white pickup had been painted black, but 'something about the truck caught (the trooper's) attention and the license plate matched up,' Marshall said. 'He got her out of the vehicle,' then arrested Drake without incident."
Good work!
